She is survived by: her husband Richard A. Metro; her sons, Richard (Erica), Steven (Bethann) and Jeffrey (Margaret); and her grandchildren, Maya, Tate, Shane, Colin, Keenan, Devon and Kieran.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NY, in the name of Colin Metro.

““Uncle” Richard, “Richie” Steven and Jeffrey, I am deeply moved to hear this . “Aunt” Joan called me this February and we were on the phone for almost an hour. We did this every once in awhile. I loved keeping in touch. Joan always treated me with such love. She held my bridal shower in your home, she and Richard drove to PA for our son’s baptism, and we always found a small way to stay in touch. I will miss her deeply as she was my connection to the extended family of second and third cousins of my dad and Richard. She had an impact on my life I will never forget.”

“Saddened to learn of Mrs. M's passing. Many memories: the 4th of July BBQs at the Gleichmanns followed by fireworks; tulip cruise to the Netherlands & Belgium; Thanksgiving dinner with the ‘baby turkey’ & her Christmas letters about the years events & her awesome grandchildren - she was so proud of them.
