He was predeceased by : his granddaughter Janine Pfitzner. He is survived by : his wife Margaret Kehl Gwinnett; his daughter Colleen Szarek (Michael); his grandchildren, Richard Pfitzner, Tyler Szarek and Kandice Szarek; his great grandchildren, Michael, Frank and Tiffany (Ethan); and his great great grandchild Mason. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
