He was predeceased by: his parents, August Friel and Violet Kuchinsky Friel; and his brother Robert Friel. He is survived by: his wife Katherine Lansing Friel; his children, Timothy Friel (Lisa) and Megan Friel; his sister Barbara Friel Sperrazza (Carl); and his grandchildren, McKenna, Sean and Autumn.
