Agatha Romano Obituary
Agatha "Tina" Romano (nee Mangino) 91, of Elmwood Park passed away on Friday, June 16th, 2023. Born in Estelle Manor, NJ, she was raised in West New York. She was a 1949 graduate of Memorial High School, and had worked at Metropolitan Insurance in NYC. She married her husband John Romano in January of 1951. They were married for 59 years before John passed away in 2010. They had lived in West New York, Cliffside Park, Ridgefield, and Toms River, before moving to Elmwood Park in 1993. Tina, along with her husband John Romano, owned and operated Tina's Card and Gift Shop in Cliffside Park, NJ from 1966 until their retirement in 1984.
Tina loved life and enjoyed being around people. She was the person who always reached out and stayed in touch with friends and family, keeping everyone connected. She came from a large extended family of many cousins, aunts, and uncles, many of whom had relocated to Arizona. Her husband also came from a large family, with most having resided in Italy and Sicily. She was a member of the Elmwood Park Senior Center. She was funny, entertaining, an avid reader, enjoyed crafting and sharing her creations, and loved classic country music. She and her husband were frequent travelers and had traveled the world. They had visited many countries, and especially during their retirement years, enjoyed a number of trips including nearly 60 cruises. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Tina is survived by her 3 daughters - Angela and her husband James Welton, Patricia and her husband William Castel, and Tina and her husband Thomas Montone. She was the proud & loving grandmother of Jennifer Chalmers and her partner Dan Camargo, Alexis and her husband Rich Nebeling, and Jimmy Chalmers, as well as her great-grandchildren Samantha & Emma Nebeling. She is predeceased by her parents Anna (nee Campo) and Sam Mangino, her husband John Romano, her sister Carmela Di Leo, & her brother Joseph Mangino.
Visiting will be on Monday 3 to 7 p.m. at the Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home, 274 Market Street, Elmwood Park, NJ 07407. Funeral Service will be on Tuesday 9:30 am at the funeral home. Entombment at Garden of Memories, Washington Township, NJ.
