He was predeceased by: his parents, Justino Costa and Rosa Costa (Silva). He is survived by: his wife Aurea Costa (Cunha); his children, John Costa (Betty) and RoseMary Costa-Lopes (Paul); his grandchildren, Kyle, Alexandra, Dylan and Joanna; his brothers, Francisco, Joaquin and Jose; and his sister-in-law Aurora Rodrigues. He is also survived by friends.
