It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Glenn Spann, born in Jersey City, New Jersey, who passed away on November 8, 2020 at John F. Kennedy Hospital in Edison, NJ at the age of 64.
Glenn was born on June 11, 1956 to the late Jacob L. Spann and Lucille Glover Spann.
Glenn graduated from Henry Snyder High School in Jersey City, NJ. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration , Accounting and Finance degree from Pace University in New York, NY. He was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. He had a 36 year career with the U.S. Federal Government in New York, NY. Glenn was an IRS Agent for four years. He spent the remaining years with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and became a Certified Fraud Examiner. His first role was a Regulatory Investigator and subsequently promoted to lead the Division of Market Oversight as Supervisor of the Market and Trade Practice Surveillance Branch. Glenn retired in 2012.
In 1985, unable to surrender his passion for tax preparation, Glenn formed Glenn Spann & Company Tax Preparation Accounting and Financial Planning. Glenn was a member of organizations such as the National Association of Enrolled Agents, NA of Tax Professionals, and the National Society of Tax Preparers. He truly loved the taxation business.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Linda Williams Spann and daughter Jasmine Spann of Piscataway, NJ, his sister Gloria Spann Seigler of South Orange, NJ, brother Ernest Spann (Avis) of Maplewood, NJ. Sisters-in-law Sharon Dickey of Ellenwood, GA, Diane Mitchell (Lonnie) of Stone Mountain, GA. Brother-in-law Gilbert Williams of Ellenwood, GA. Uncles George Atkinson of Jersey City, NJ, Carl May and Aunt Thomasena of Charlotte, NC. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
