He was predeceased by: his wife Maria Alegre. He is survived by: his children, Lizette Goncalves (Manuel), Liria Magao (Jorge), Gerardo Alegre (Adelaide), Anabela Alegre-Bannon, Alexandre Alegre (Angela) and Sonia Alegre. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
