He was predeceased by: his parents, Mykhailo Ptasnik and Bronyslava Bobko (Shynkarvych); his brother Joseph Ptasnik; his stepfather Gregory Bobko; and his mother-in-law Sophie Kostyshyn.

He is survived by: his wife Melanie Nona Ptasnik (Kostyshyn) of Jamesburg; his children, Michele Guerra (Ptasnik) of Jamesburg, Michael Ptasnik (Lisa) of Manville and Nicholas Ptasnik (Kristin) of Freehold; his grandchildren, Marisa Guerra (Samantha), Marlena Guerra, Kaydi Rush, Karlee Rush and Michael "Mikey" Ptasnik; his great grandchild Jaxsin Vaccaro; his sister-in-law Mary Grebe (Kostyshyn); his nephew John "Johnny" Grebe; and his pets, Sierra, Bella and Gizmo.

Visitation was held on Sunday, February 9th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Brunswick Memorial (454 Cranbury Rd, East Brunswick, NJ 08816). A funeral service was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church (80 Livingston Ave, New Brunswick, NJ 08901).
