He was predeceased by: his parents, James Leo and Blanche Evelyn Benson (Pegg); his siblings, Rae Scheier, Barbara Benson, James Benson and Roger Benson; and his close friend Martin Romano.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce E. Benson (Brown) of Delaware Township, NJ; his children, John W. Benson, Jr. (Kelly S.) of Stockton, NJ, Michael "Mickey" C. Benson (Heidi L.) of Stockton, NJ and Tammie J. DeStefano (Michael) of Flemington, NJ; his grandchildren, Ashley A. Cruz (David) of Macungie, PA, John W. Benson III (Lisa Sadano) of Bethlehem, PA, Morgan K. Martucci of Plainsboro, NJ and Robert W. Martucci of Flemington, NJ; his great grandchild Cameron Cruz; his sister Joyce Debonis of Texas; and his siblings-in-law, Florence Lose (Charles) and William Brown (Betsy). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
