She was predeceased by: her parents, Joe Galligan and Mary Galligan; and her husband Richard Hart. She is survived by: her pet Nikki; her daughters, Doreen Hart, Maureen Hart and Kathy Anderson (John); and her brothers, Joe Galligan (Susan) and John Galligan.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. John's Church, 22 Mulberry Street, Newark, NJ 07102.

“Joan Hart was a strong single mother who raised three beautiful daughters, including Kathy who was a dear friend to me from second grade through college. Joan moved her girls to Tenafly to further their education goals and always put them first. I will remember her generosity hosting me in her home when my own parents separated and I had nowhere to go. Although it has been 30 years, I vividly recall her no nonsense advice and hearty laughter. Her Tenafly home was always open to friends”
