He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Louise Wygant Melton and John R. Melton; and his sister Elizabeth Melton. He is survived by: his wife Jane Melton; his children, David Melton II, Erica Melton and Alicia Cromwell (Timothy); his grandchildren, Logan, Mitchel "Mickey" Melton, Jonathan "Jon" Yost, Joseph "Jac" and Thomas "TJ" Cromwell; his siblings, Johnnie, Teddy and Eric (Lorianne); and his stepchildren, April Lindes, Chris and Adam Jellison. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
