He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Damian Fitzsimmons and Helen Sheridan Fitzsimmons; and his siblings, John "Jack" Fitzsimmons, Rosemary Shubick, Eleanor Dobbins and Anne Kunze.
He is survived by: his wife Anne Azzolino Fitzsimmons; and his sister Joan Mullery. He is also survived by many many nieces, nephews; great nieces and great nephews.
