With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Martin Koenig (Cranford, New Jersey), born in Garwood, New Jersey, who passed away on May 9, 2018. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Martin Koenig to pay them a last tribute.
Martin was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia (Treacy) Koenig, shortly before their 60th wedding anniversary." He is survived by his children, Linda and Scott Koenig & Cheryl Pickett of Garwood, Martin Jr & his wife Lori of Kenilworth and his brother-in-law John Treacy & wife Evelyn of Sun City West, AZ. He is also survived by three grandchildren & a great grandson. Martin was also predeceased by his parents, William & Mary and by his brother John. Martin owned & operated a drywall business before becoming a process operator at Hess refinery. He served honorably in the US Army & was very proud of his country. He also volunteered for Garwood's Fire Dept. for 15 years. "Mert" excelled at sports & was known for his skill shooting darts locally. After retiring he became an avid golfer. He also was a member & a president of The Garwood Fishing Club in the 60's. Mert will be missed by his rescue dog, Shamrock, who was his constant companion through his last years. Visitation will be on Monday, May 14 from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm at Dooley Funeral Home, Cranford. A memorial service will be held on Tues at 10:00 am at the Dooley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Garwood Volunteer Fire Dept or animal rescue of your choice.
