He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Joan (Walton); his parents, Louis Bergen and Beatrice Van Bergen (Rowe); his son Joseph Jr.; his daughter-in-law Andrea; his grandchildren, Emma and Jack; his siblings, Louis Van Bergen III and Barbara Cleveland; his brother-in-law John Cleveland; his sister Patricia Russell; and his sister-in-law Patricia Mellace (Walton). He was also cherished by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the "Building Fund" of St. Michael Church or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
