She was predeceased by: her father John "Jack" Fitzgerald; her husband Joe; her granddaughter Sophie Ballard; her siblings, Elizabeth Grisolia, Kathleen Thompson and Brother Brendan Fitzgerald; and her siblings-in-law, Rose Nigro and Nicholas Nigro.
She is survived by: her mother Elizabeth Fitzgerald (Lappin); her children, Felicia Ballard, Virginia Mickolajczyk (Paul), Joseph Nigro (Megan), John Nigro (Wendy) and Beth Nigro (Steve Wilson); her grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Alex), Christopher Connelly, Phoebe, Luke, Jake Ballard, Jack, Tim (Mars), Sam Nigro, Sara, Rebecca Nigro and Kimberly Gilmore (Joe); her sisters, Helen Tucker (Harry) and Josephine Kavanagh; her sister-in-law Agnes Nigro; and her family Dorothy Nigro. She is also survived by nieces and nephews as well as extended family and countless friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 4th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Barrett Leber Funeral Home (148 Dean Dr, Tenafly, NJ 07670). A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, October 5th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. Therese of Lisieux Church (120 Monroe Ave, Cresskill, NJ 07626-1405). A burial was held on Saturday, October 5th 2024 at the Westwood Cemetery (23 Kinderkamack Rd, Woodcliff Lake, NJ 07677).
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Closter Ambulance Corps , 72 Ruckman Road, Closter, New Jersey or to the Valerie Fund, 2101 Millburn Avenue, Maplewood, New Jersey, 07040.
