It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Werner Abken of Clinton, New Jersey, born in Hamburg, New Jersey, who passed away on August 27, 2023, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Karl Anton Abken and Elfriede Abken; his wife Sylvia Abken; and his son Carl Abken (Doris). He is survived by: his children, Peter Abkenand (Susan), Alice Cartwright (Brian) and Erica Berger (Floyd); and his grandchildren, Ian Cartwright (Sonie), Sydney (Sam Pavlick), Elise (Benedikt Brandt), Carol (Cameron Eagles), Lindsay (Abken), Kit Lau, Lauren Abken and Alyssa Wagner.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Werner's name to The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
