He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothea Fitzsimmons and James Fitzsimmons; his stepfather George Wiechert; his brother James; his daughter-in-law Robyn; his sister-in-law Eileen; and his grandchildren, Peter Thomas and Kiera Anne.
He is survived by: his wife Bernadette Fitzsimmons; his children, Robert Jr. Fitzsimmons (Mary) of Pittstown, NJ, Leo Fitzsimmons (Gerarda) of Exton, PA, George Fitzsimmons (Vanessa) of Bethlehem Township, NJ, Marybeth Kachmar (Matthew) of Virginia, James Fitzsimmons of Willow Grove, PA and Edna Margaret Livasy (Scott) of Katy, TX; his grandchildren, Siobhan of Robert, III, Fionnuala, Meagan, Patrick, Emily Ann, Sean, Alfonso, Matthew, Grace, Maria, Christopher, Anthony, Austin, Mackenze and Kate Olivia; his great grandchildren, Andrew and Kieran (Edna Matthews Fitzsimmons) of Florida; his nieces and nephews, Kathleen, James, Eileen, Scott, Patrick, Maureen and MaryKate; and also, Molly, Eileen and Patrick.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's name may be made through IN MEMORY OF for the Hunterdon Hospice, who showed great care to Robert in his final days.
