He is survived by: his wife Georgeann Hitzel (Whitehill); his children, Joseph Hitzel IV (Jennifer) of Fountain Hills, AZ, Dr. George Hitzel (Alison) of St. Petersburg, FL, Susan Welch (Ralph Ruffolo) of Glen Gardner, NJ, John Hitzel (Laurie) of Richmond, TX and Simeon Hitzel (Janet) of Johns Creek, GA; and his grandchildren, Janaya, Joseph V, Michael, Miranda, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Jonathan, Savannah, Alexandra, Geneva, Patrick, Jillian, Amy, Alyssa, Andrew III, Everett, Makailyn, Eloise, Athena and William. He is also survived by his family and friends.
