He is survived by: his sister Patricia Ruggiero (Thomas) of Wanaque; his uncle Edward Hanzl of East Rutherford; his niece Carrie Breckenridge (Mark) of Lynnwood, WA; and his nephew Michael Ruggiero (Kristin) of Oak Ridge. He is also survived by many loving cousins and friends.

“Al and I served on the parish council of Holy Trinity, Passaic. It was here that I came to know him. We enjoyed talking to each other on a raft of subjects, often on the past. A quiet, reserved man was Al, with a subtle sense of humor. I hadn't got to see him as often as I would have preferred; but I am grateful to have known. When our meetings begin again, I know that I'll be habitually looking to the place next to mine where he sat and realizing again that I am missing someone.”
