She was predeceased by: her parents, Amanda Hughes and Montague Hughes; her husband William A. Clax; her siblings-in-law, Evangeline Curry, Twille, Cedric Hughes, Doris, Iry Williams and Lillian Hughes; and her close friends, Christine May and Barbara Anderson.
She is survived by: her daughters, Judith Cabbell, Rosalind Davis and Lori Clax; her grandsons, David Alexander Cabbell and Devin Brendan Davis; her siblings-in-law, Beateal Gumbs (Earle), Emily Armstrong, James Hughes (Wilma) and Ephraim Hughes; and her close friends, Sadie Gumbs, Eleanor Richardson and Edith Moultrie. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting for charity, completing circular word puzzles and spending time with her sisters fixing jigsaw puzzles.
