He was predeceased by: his wife Rose Gawin; and his siblings, Donald Gawin and Joan Giunta. He is survived by: his children, Gary Gawin (Barbara) and Cheryl Gawin (Jeff Candelora); and his grandchildren, Andrew Gawin (Lindsy McElhinney) and Alyson Schwartz (David). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
