He was predeceased by: his parents, Philip Mai and Margaret Mai (Gallagher); his son Mark Mai; and his siblings, Florence Schink, Margaret Kato, Susan McQueeney, Elizabeth Baumle, Grace Rimkus, Mary Johanesen, Pauline Mai, William Mai, Gustav Mai, John Mai and Philip Mai.

He is survived by: his wife Anita Mai (Thane); his children, Linda Mai and Brian Mai (Lynn); his grandchildren, Kathleen Mai and William Mai; and his sisters, Catherine Sweitzer and Victoria Stavick. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
