He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathan Gratz and Bertha Gratz; his brother Eugene Gratz; and his siblings-in-law, Denise Walton (John) and Martin Mitchell.

He is survived by: his wife Janet Mitchell-Gratz; his son Max Gratz (Margaret Soriano); his children-in-law, Liz Pareja Dias (Pedro) and Adira; his sister Sheila Vecker (late Larry); and his siblings-in-law, James Mitchell and Dianne Girard (Larry). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
