He was predeceased by: his parents, George H. Leighty and Anna E. Leighty (Casler); his wife Anna Lou Leighty (Hinckle); his daughters, JoAnn Romano and Elizabeth Leighty; and his siblings, George Henry "Harry" Leighty and Betty Schafer.
He is survived by: his sons, David Leighty (Roseanne), Bruce Leighty (Sue Ann) and Robert Leighty (Lianne); and his grandchildren, Jeremy Romano, Patricia Edmonds, Anna Leighty, Shannon Menei, Jessica Bright, Bruce Leighty, Jr., Matthew Leighty, Bobbi Jo Szanyi and Robert Leighty. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
