Patricia L. Wenzel (nee Borger) Patricia Wenzel, affectionately known as Pat, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2023, in Cape May, New Jersey. Born on February 10, 1938, in Camden, New Jersey, Pat was a beloved figure in her community.
Pat was a proud alumna of Camden Catholic High School, where she nurtured her innovative mind and developed her strong sense of community. She carried these qualities throughout her life, establishing herself as a successful entrepreneur and a dedicated philanthropist.
The founder and owner of Cape May Wicker, Pat's creative vision and entrepreneurial spirit were evident in her work. Her unique perspective and passion for design led to the creation of the Chattel House Village in West Cape May, a testament to her innovative spirit and dedication to her community. Pat's remarkable ability to envision and realize beautiful spaces won her admiration and respect in her professional life.
Beyond her professional achievements, Pat was an avid painter, known for her beautiful renditions of scenic images of Cape May, New York City, and Barbados. Her paintings, like her personality, were vibrant and full of life, reflecting her keen eye for beauty and her deep appreciation for the world around her.
Pat's compassionate heart led her to rescue and foster many stray cats, providing them with a loving home and a second chance at life. Her kindness and generosity extended to all living creatures, reflecting her deep love and respect for all life.
Pat's life was enriched by her loving family. She was the cherished wife of William Wenzel for 62 years, and their enduring love story was an inspiration to all who knew them. A devoted mother to Stacia Cohen (Mark), Desiree Juraniec (Walter), and William Wenzel (Karen), Pat's love and wisdom guided her children through life. As a grandmother to Samantha, Ryan (Rachel), Devan, Andrew, Caroline, Harrison, and Cassidy, Pat's joy and pride in her grandchildren were evident to all who knew her. She was predeceased by her loving brother, Lawrence Borger (Julie), whose memory she held dear.
Pat's legacy of love, creativity, and kindness will continue to inspire and guide all those she leaves behind. Her life serves as a beautiful reminder of the impact one individual can have on their community and the world around them. As we bid her farewell, we celebrate her life and the profound influence she had on Cape May.
Pat's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday (Nov. 21st) at 1:30pm in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 525 Washington St., Cape May where friends will be received by her family from 12:30pm until 1:30pm. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Cape May.
