He is survived by: his wife Nanette Berg; his children, Tina Nowell (Ray), Sharon Thuestad, Joanne Singleton (Joseph), Eric Berg (Jennifer) and Jason Berg (Karen); his sister Kirsten Berg (Tom); and his grandchildren, Elijah, Cody, Nicole, Jakob, Izak, Kirsten, Joseph and Eric.

“So long Captain Berg! Another old (ex)fisherman now sailed into the sunset! I remember when you left Leroy & me standing on Pier 3 in New Bedford, watching as you sailed the F/V Sylvia Mae out of the harbor on your way out to a scalloping trip. I always teased him about that. I even introduced my oldest son to him, " as the only Captain who ever left me standing on the dock." Many yrs. ago, but still fresh in my mind!
