He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick Monahan and Marie Monahan (Simmons); and his daughter Katherine Primavera. He is survived by: his daughters, Elizabeth Kirrane (Jack) and Patricia Monahan; his grandchildren, Stephanie Rowin (Bryan), Nicole Primavera, Michael Primavera (Corinne) and Sara Stankevitch; his girlfriend Arlene Golabek; his girlfriend's daughter Deborah (Michael); and also, Patrick and Sean.

In lieu of flowers donations be made to St Judes Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in his memory.
