He was predeceased by: his mother Sue Hopkins; and his stepbrother James "Pee Wee" Hopkins. He is survived by: his father Leon Hopkins; his former wives, Rita Mae Tilley of Ethelsville, AL, Katherine Frances Ewing and Rita Hopkins; his grandchildren, Elisabeth (Daniel Brahn), Sarah (Giovanni DiDonato) and Beverly (Dustin Barr); his great grandchildren, Silas and Elliott; his grandchildren, Jesse and Megan Hopkins; his great grandchild Avery; his wife Kate Hopkins; his daughter Kathy (Bill Whildon); his grandchildren, Casey Chinski and Autumn; his grandson-in-law Josh Chinski; his great grandchild Tucker; his grandchildren, Robert and Michelle Knapp; his great grandchildren, Robert Jr. and Bella; his grandchildren, Joe and Julie Knapp; his stepsiblings, Barbara Griggs, Frances, Roy Samples, Charles Cox, Milton "Snowball" and Pam Hopkins; and also Lela Hopkins. He is also survived by four children and their spouses.
