He is survived by: his wife Jessica Vaia; his sons, Brian Smith, Anthony Vaia (Lauren) and Joseph Vaia; his grandchildren, Seth Smith and Olivia Vaia; his siblings, Maria Vaia, Theresa Sydrock (Robert) and Joseph Vaia (Lauren); his nieces, Christina Vaia (Stew Maldonado), Dana Dolce (Charlie), Melissa Siino (Peter), Sarah Josephine Vaia and Gianna Vaia; his great-niece Gabriella Maldonado; and his great-nephew Cody Maldonado.
