He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Cottrell and Helen Cottrell (Thompkins); his wife Linda Sutterlin; and his brothers, Clifford Cottrell, Jr. and Richard Wayne Cottrell.
He is survived by: his cousin Brucie; his children, Robert C. Cottrell, Jr. (Dana) of Dillon, Colorado, Marcel Renson (Elizabeth) of Toms River, William Cottrell (Kristin Anderson) of Rochester, Minnesota, Yvonne Stern (Marlena Hood) of Toms River and Suzanne Penna of Pine Beach; his siblings, Pat Pedrick of Cumberland, Virginia and David Cottrell (Bruce Harding) of Whiting; and his grandchildren, Samantha, Joshua, Caleb, Sarah, Andrew, Brittany, Zachary, Madelyn, Jennifer, Marcel, Grace and Benjamin. He is also survived by children or their friends, or a nephew or niece, who got to work on Uncle.
