He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Adkins and Lois Pauline Adkins (Roberts). He is survived by: his wife Lynne Adkins (Hamling); his children, Matthew (Cary) and Kristen (James McShea); his grandchildren, Delaney, Teagan, Mackenzie, Taryn Adkins, Justin and Sean McShea; his siblings, Steven (Linda Adkins) and Lesa Adkins Neeley; and his brother-in-law Terrance.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project or The Boys Club of Shelbyville Indiana.
