She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred and Peg; her sisters, Kit Thibodeau, Mary Ann Valenti, Peggy Deneen and Carol Schaldenbrand; and her great grandchild Charlotte Leigh Hoelzle.
She is survived by: her spouse Lester John Whalen (Jack); her children, Michael (Shirley Zanton), John (Trish Bravo), Kelly (Beth Cockerham), Patrick (Lora), Jeffrey (Jody), Sally (Mario Gonzalez) and Christopher (Tammy); her grandchildren, Kelly, Melissa, David, Peter, Danny, Christine, Andrew, Sally, Marjorie, Kevin, Anna, Angela, Nathan, Erica, Sara, Andrea, Jacob, Katherine, Samantha, Jack and Matthew; and her great grandchildren, Lorelei, Alexa, Emma, Olivia, Kevin and Jason. She is also survived by her children: daughter.
The family asks that in lieu in flowers, donations be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Bolivia, NC.
