She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Smith and Rita Smith; and her husband Philip Pomaro. She is survived by: her children, Debra (Robert Del Prete), Jeffrey (Denise James) and Thomas Pomaro (Dina Gordon); her stepchildren, Philip (Luann Pomaro), Michelle (Robert Hewson) and Andrea Chiarelli; her brothers, Richard (Carolie Smith) and Edward (Deborah Smith); her grandchildren, Robert (Theresa), Steven (Danielle), Nicholas, Kevin (Ashley), Christopher (Kate), Timothy (Vanessa), Conner, Tina, Philip III (Tricia), Crystal, Nick and Corey; her nephew Lennon; and also Charles James. She is also survived by 20 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Rita's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, stjude.org/memorial.
