He was predeceased by: his parents, John J. Sr. Gilligan and Valeria Gilligan; his brother John J. Gilligan Jr.; his nephew Mickey Gilligan; and his niece Linda Buckowicz.
He is survived by: his wife Kathy Gilligan (Aranowicz); his son Michael John Gilligan (Dawn) of Toms River; his stepsons, Andrew John Aranowicz of Lakewood and Michael John Aranowicz (Jillian) of Brick; his grandchildren, Emily and Ian Gilligan; his niece Kim Mohr (Art); his great-nephew Dan of Spotswood; his niece Dawn Kovacs of New Jersey; and his cousin Mary Ann Huff of Pennsylvania.
