He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Andrew Sass; his wife Joan Eileen; his children, John Andrew, Jeffrey Thomas and Jennifer Mary Kelm (late Paul John); his grandchildren, Paul John Kelm Jr. of Bloomfield and Amanda Erin Kelm of Bloomfield; his cousin Evelyn Niemira of Belleville; and his siblings, Joseph Stanley, Sigmund "Doc" Sass, Veronica Kopacz (Joseph), Helen Rosalia Slawinski-Hornick (Adam), Mary Marie Hrywny (Demetrio), Emilia "Millie" Androccio (Joseph) and Victoria Florence Pizzuti (Peter). He was also cherished by many loving nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren.
