He is survived by: his wife Malia; his sons, Peter Portalatin (Heidi) of Nutley, NJ and Paul Portalatin of Asbury Park, NJ; his siblings, Rosemary Bakelac (Frank) of Gainesville, GA, Geni Natic (Edwin) of Cummings, GA, Milagros Gutierrez-Colon (Charlie) of Brooklyn, NY and Jose Gutierrez (Jacky) of Long Island, NY; his grandson Kevin Torres; his siblings-in-law, Nicholas Gatti (May) of Dumont, NJ, Philip Gatti (Catherine) of Berkeley Twp and Deborah Somerville (James) of Berkeley Twp; and his aunt Ramona Delgado of Puerto Rico.
