He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Henrietta and James B. Flynn, Sr.; his wife Julia Flynn of Berkeley Heights; his sons, James B. Flynn, III, Michael T. Flynn (Katherine), Matthew N. Flynn and John Flynn (Kamilla Simon); his grandchildren, Grace and Michael T. Flynn, II; his sisters, Ann Marie Crossman and Madeline Patenge (David); and his former wife Judith. He was also cherished by niece, three nephews, and many loving cousins and friends.

Due to Covid-19, a memorial mass celebrating his life will be held when conditions permit.
