He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael McDonald and Anna McDonald; his wife Marie T. McDonald; and his siblings, James McDonald, Marie Carr and Kathleen Kilgallen.

He is survived by: his children, Thomas McDonald, Jr. (Cindy) of Florham Park, Michael McDonald (Barbara) of Cherry Hill, Maria Mastrobattista (Albert) of Clinton and Maribeth Palmer (Donald) of Belvidere; his grandchildren, Meghan (Jen) of Kaitlin, TJ, Brittany (Mike), Morgan, John Paul (Valerie), Julie (Jordan), Andrew, Emily, Sean, Caroline and Elizabeth; and his great grandchildren, Claire, James, Jack, Alana, Tommy, Benjamin, Chase and Mason.

Donations in Thomas' memory can be made to St. Jude's Children's hospital.
