We are sad to announce that on March 22, 2021 we had to say goodbye to John Dumschat of Belvidere, New Jersey, born in Newark, New Jersey. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Dumschat and Martha Dumschat (Hutchinson); his brother Frank Dumschat; and his nephew Mark Dumschat. He is survived by: his wife Sarah Ellen Quinn; his children, John Dumschat (Jen), Laura Richter (Chris), Paul Dumschat (Traci), Anne Dumschat, Sarah Bradford (Billy) and Teresa Dumschat; his grandchildren, Michael, Trinity, John, Logan, Dylan, Elijah and Adelyn; his sisters, Betty Ann McCall (Joe) and Mary Piwowarski; and his sister-in-law Sylvia Dumschat. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in John's memory to Helyar House Scholarship at Rutgers University or St. Patrick R.C. Church, Belvidere, NJ.

“To John's Family, Please accept my condolences over John's passing. I served under him in Vietnam in late 1969 into 1970. He was a great leader as well as a great example of what a man should be. I saw him for the first time in 46 years at the 2016 reunion in Manhattan. It was good to see him again and I hoped we would meet again sometime. These days our country needs many more men like him.
