He is survived by: his wife Komaladevi Nagalingam; his children, Manoja Gopalan (Rameswaran Nadarasa), Renokanthan Gopalan (Bhiravi Nadarajah), Priyatharshan Gopalan (Sindhujha Priyatharshan) and Mithurjan Gopalan; his siblings, Vishualingam, Rasamani and Valliyammai; and his grandchildren, Mithran and Durga.
