He was predeceased by: his wife Lillian; and his siblings, John Chowanec (Sophie), Walter Chowanec (Connie), Peter Chowanec (Rose), Pauline Kaplinski (John), Olga Kolakoski (Ed), Annie Bobko (Joe), Eva Warjanka (Mike) and Lillian Bogusz (Joe).
He is survived by: his children, Donna Chowanec, Georgette Kaufman (Jay) and George Chowanec (Lori); his grandchildren, Christina Kaufman, Jake Kaufman and Nicole Kaufman; his great grandchild Milania; and his sibling Alexander Chowanec (Olga). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
