He was predeceased by: his parents, Kurt Akersten and Helen Akersten; and his brother Robert Akersten. He is survived by: his wife Maureen Akersten (Caplette); his sons, Reagan Akersten (Adrienne) of Ocean Township and Rory Akersten (Kathryn) of Point Pleasant; his brothers, Kurt Akersten (Ellen) of Bay Head and Peter Akersten (Elizabeth) of Verona; and his grandchildren, Ryan Padraic Logan and Ruby Ray Akersten.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Compassionate Care Hospice of Toms River, NJ and the American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
