It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Janet Shearer Johnson (Bay Head, New Jersey), who passed away on April 13, 2020, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ethel Donnelly Mellen and Arthur William Mellen, Jr.; her son Richard Mellen Shearer (Ricky); her former husband Ralph Shearer; her husband Edward Johnson; and her brother Arthur William Mellen, III.
She is survived by: her children, Bari Shearer Edwards (Richard Edwards), Gail Shearer (Christopher Palmer), Mark Shearer (Kevin Borenstein) and Suzanne Shearer Whitehorn; her grandchildren, Nicholas Edwards (Catherine Birdwell), Mark Andrew Edwards, Kimberly S. Palmer (Sujay Davé), Christina S. Palmer (Carlton Willey), Jennifer S. Palmer (Chase Twilley), Erin C. Herbert (Michael Herbert), Leigh Whitehorn and Kate Whitehorn; and her great grandchildren, Kareena Palmer Davé, Neal Palmer Davé, Dylan Palmer Davé, Jackson John Palmer-Willey, Maddox Christopher Palmer-Willey, Samuel Francis Palmer-Willey, Aiden Palmer Twilley and Connor Palmer Twilley. She is also survived by six step-children.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The cause of death was complications of the Coronavirus. She was born on June 8, 1926, in New York City.
