He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Rudio and Jeane Spears Peak Michel. He is survived by: his spouse Eva J. Goldenberg; his children, Hilary Michel (Angelo Cocozziello), Brett Michel (Elissa) and Samantha DePalma (David); his stepchild Nancy Tartaglione Moore (Alasdair); his grandchildren, Christian, Haleigh DePalma, Molly, Ian Michel and Liza Cocozziello; his sibling John Michel (Berit Midelfort); his nieces and nephews, Elin Michel-Midelfort, Siri Michel-Midelfort (Peter Dorsey), Jarl Michel-Midelfort (Alethea Alden) and Jan Michel-Midelfort; his parents-in-law, Hildegard Gruenbaum Katz and David Goldenberg (Cynthia); his siblings-in-law, Deborah Orlove (Brett), Denis Goldenberg, Neil Goldenberg (Ann) and Lee Goldenberg (Doris); and his nieces and nephews, Joshua, Jacob, Rachel, Elliotte, Alex, Noah, Zach, Cole, William, Michael, Charles and Zevi.
