He was predeceased by: his wife Lucy Sodano-Mendez. He is survived by: his children, U. S. Navy Lt (Gilbert A. Mendez), Michelle Mendez (Christine Sutherland) and Elaine Dull (James Dull); his grandchildren, Raphael, Luca Biello, Mathew and Joshua Dull; and his brothers, Ignacio and Jesse Mendez. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
