He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Hopkinson and Rose Waters Hopkinson; his stepmother Alice Costello Hopkinson; and his brother Jack Costello. He is survived by: his friend Joe Finn; his wife Claudia Mooney Hopkinson; his children, Maggie McPhail (Steve) of Bel Air, MD and William J Hopkinson Jr. (Jodi) of Avon; his grandchildren, Cassie, Caroline McPhail, Will, Hopkinson III and Caitlin Hopkinson; and his siblings, Fred Hopkinson, Rita Patterson, Joan Mich, Ann Dionne and Linda Lap. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
