He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Taylor and Myrtle Price-Braithwaite; his siblings-in-law, Rosalind Anderson and Robert Anderson; and his cousin Warren Tolson.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn; his children, Kim Callender (Lorenzo) of Roselle, NJ, Vanita Taylor-Owens (John) of Silver Spring, MD, Christopher Fitch (Terrie) of Chesapeake, VA and Van Jr. "Tink" of San Francisco, CA.; his grandchildren, Mikel Callender, Jovan Callender (Bianca), Andre Callender (Yasmyn), Cameron Fitch, Sherrie Fitch, Christopher Fitch, Edmund Fitch, Isaiah Van Taylor Fitch, Jasmine Fitch, Veronica Fitch, Aleta Taylor-Owens and Omar Owens (Marie); his siblings-in-law, Clinton Anderson, Brenda Percy (Daniel) and Gail Anderson; his close friend Barbara Bowe; his goddaughter Tauheedah Munir; and his nieces, Stephanie, Tanay, Kellie, Danielle, Tamara, Shanda and Elaine. He is also survived by loving friends, relatives, and adopted children.
