He is survived by: his wife Mediha Lubonja; his children, Alma Lubonja and Genti Lubonja; his granddaughter Ina Cakerri; his great grandchild Gaia Comella; his niece Irena Coka-Morin; and his nephews, Aliosha Bixha, Elton Bixha and Antan Tutra.

A funeral service was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery (6804 Black Horse Pike, Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234).
His contribution to this sport and to the Albanian athletics earned him the title of Grand Master of Sports.
