Atherley A. Simpson Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Atherley A. Simpson of Atlantic City, New Jersey, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 24, 2025 at the age of 80. He was predeceased by: his parents, Leotta Simpson-Gill and Edgar Gill; his son-in-law Carlton E. Rawson Jr.; his children, Marsha M. Rawson and Richard L. Smiley (Bonnie); his close friend Ilena "Nean" R. Pitts; his siblings, Diana Gill, Maureen Simpson, Iris Simpson, Murray Gill, Wayne Simpson and Louis Simpson; and also, Debra Pitts-Etheridge (Seaton), Jeffrey Pitts (Linda), Anthony Pitts (Tammy), Melvin Pitts (Tracie), Catherine Pitts-Winston and Cherita Jackson (Andre).
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Dontaye Rivera Sr. (Diana Loera), Drahcir Knight-Smiley, Kenneth Jones-Smiley, Ayanna Jones-Smiley, Briyanna Jones-Smiley, Shinaicia Jones, Shi Asia Jones, Martell Pitts, Tara Paton (Dwayne), Antoinette Pitts, Gisele Pitts, Tamara Etheridge, Marcus Pitts, T'Kaira Winston, Tykere Winston and Luke Jackson; his great grandchildren, Dontaye Rivera Jr., Linda Rivera, Zaire Jones-Smiley, Galilee Thompson, Alanii Thompson, Amia Hathaway, Nysir Hathaway, Maiya Green, Asia Green, Noah Green, Melina Pitts, Nalani Pitts, Nova Pitts, Kaston Campbell and Taalyn Campbell; his goddaughters, Marsha Smiley and Tamara Etheridge; his cousins, Frank Simpson, Ermie Clarke, Eunice Clarke and Mark Clarke; his niece Nicolia Simpson; and also Markie.
Viewing was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Heavensway Baptist Church (5082 Tremont Ave, Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
