He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard C. Ewan, Sr. and Irwina Ewan (Warner); his former wife Catherine Ewan (Stannard); his brother Harold Ewan; and his son Denis Ewan.
He is survived by: his wife Frances Ewan (Maier); his brother Col. Richard C. Ewan, II; his children, David Ewan and Pamela Ewan; and his grandson Isaac Denis Ewan.
Gene was recovering from 3 compression fractures in his lumbar spine when he contracted COVID in September 2023; in October, he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, which he fought valiantly until the end.
